United States Security Academy · Level III supplement
This course provides instruction in the safe and responsible use of OC pepper spray during security duties. Topics include de-escalation, use-of-force considerations, device limitations, safe handling, exposure response, decontamination, and incident reporting.
Students who successfully complete the approved curriculum receive a separate pepper spray training certificate. DPS identifies this training as a supplement to Level III instruction; certification does not provide unrestricted authority to use force.
